Description

Welcome to the information page for Level 3 Certificate in BSL

By studying Level 3 in British Sign Language with Signature, you will2 people studying at a desk, a remote meeting is on screen further develop your skills in BSL and become a competent communicator. Building upon the vocabulary and grammar learnt within level 1 and level 2, learners will be able to understand and use varied BSL in a range of work and social situations.

BSL Linguistics and Grammar are key components of this qualification.

Currently, you have the option to study face to face or remotely via Zoom.

 

NUS Membership

Suitable for ages 16+.

Course Units

The Qualification is split into three Learning Outcomes (LO), all of which are assessed separately. To achieve the full Level 3 Award in British Sign Language, candidates must pass all Learning Outcomes;

  • LO1 – Use receptive and productive skills to engage in varied social interaction
  • LO2 – Maintain fluency, grammatical accuracy and coherence in sustained contributions
    containing varied language.
  • LO3 – Understand sustained signed communication containing varied language

Course Requirements

Level 2 Award in British Sign Language
“The Level 3 Certificate in British Sign Language (BSL) meets the learning needs of those who already have competence in BSL at Level 2 and are interested in developing their skills and knowledge.”

Qualification Objectives

At the end of the qualification, learners will be able to:

  • Communicate competently with deaf people
  • Take part in and lead complex conversations in BSL
  • Use level 3 as a gateway to career development. E.g interpreter, teacher

This course will put you on the path to fluency. You will be able to have complex conversations in BSL, and you will be able to work in the field as a Communication Support Worker.

Level 6 BSL Resources

Course Details

Classes will be held weekly from 18:00 to 20:30.
Currently, classes will be held face to face and remotely via Zoom.
In addition, grass-root BSL users will take part in your teaching to act as native mentors.

Course Fee

Fees can be paid upfront or in instalments. For this course, you can pay in 3 or 6 monthly instalments. We use a payment processor that will automatically take payment from your account on the same day every month. All payment plans are interest-free, and all prices are inclusive. You only pay what you see. The main rule is that the first payment must be made before classes start. Places can be reserved for a £50 deposit, which is deducted from your first payment.
