Imran Umar

Managing Director
Imran Umar is the managing director and co-founder of Appa me Ltd. His role is mainly fiscal, with an added responsibility to oversee an escalated complaint.
Imran also gets involved with teaching and co-hosts events with Julie Turner where the centre is open for students to mingle with other students and BSL volunteers.
Kyla Aitken

Director
Kyla supports the centre and the faculty and is a co-founder of Appa Me Ltd. Kyla also delivers training for some of the courses offered by the centre, as well as endorsing/supervising students on their status as regulated trainee sign language interpreters.
Kyla supports the faculty with identifying and creating resources, SOW and session planning.
She also works on the policies and procedures with the centre coordinators.
Julie Turner

Senior Manager
Julie supports the centre and the faculty; she also delivers training some of the courses offered by the centre and endorses / supervises students on their regulated interpreter training status.
Julie oversees any issues that students may have and supports the faculty with resources, SOW and session planning.
Irfan Umar

Academic Administration
Irfan is a centre coordinator supporting students and faculty alike. He also carries out invigilation and support to trainers on assessment days, where required by assessment protocols.
Irfan is responsible for uploading assessment materials and adhering to procedures when submitting materials for external evaluation. And he also manages the online portal ‘Moodle’ and the library facility for students.
In addition, Irfan supports INTRA / INT L6 students with portfolio compilation and structuring of academic writing submissions
Lorraine Robinson

BSL Teacher
Lorraine is a deaf native BSL user and delivers training on some of the courses offered by the centre, as well as works in 1:1 with trainee interpreters
